Clark Hubbs [00:00:00] It was introduced, the original introduction to the state, legal introduction, was done by legislative act, into Lake Conroe and the Legislature passed a bill saying that they can be put in and they were diploids that were put in.

Clark Hubbs [00:00:14] And what happened was they became reasonably abundant and some of them went downstream. And now there is a grass carp fishery in the Trinity River, which is downstream from Lake Conroe.

Clark Hubbs [00:00:26] They have problems in Lake Conroe. It was, there was, it was, the problem in Lake Conroe was based on an exotic plant, hydrilla, which caused problems in boating on the lake. And therefore, they wanted to get rid of the hydrilla so they could boat.

Clark Hubbs [00:00:46] They put the grass carp in, they got rid of the hydrilla, and therefore there was no vegetation on the shore, and the shores eroded with wave action.
